Best Time to Visit Antalya – Weather by Season and Resort

The Antalya coast has more than 300 sunny days a year, but the right time to travel depends on what you want: a beach holiday, sightseeing, golf or a quiet winter break. This guide summarises the seasons and shows how the weather differs between the main resorts. For exact monthly values, see the month-by-month pages linked below.

Spring (March–May)

Days warm up from about 18°C in March to 27°C in May, while the sea is still fresh (19°C on average) and only becomes pleasant for swimming at the end of May. With about 23 rainy days over the three months, spring is ideal for Aspendos, Perge, Termessos and the old town Kaleiçi, for hiking on the Lycian Way and for golf in Belek. Hotels and transfers are noticeably cheaper than in summer.

Summer (June–August)

Peak season: days average 34°C (often 35°C or more in July and August), nights stay around 23°C and it almost never rains. The sea reaches 28°C on average and close to 30°C in August. Plan beach time for the morning and late afternoon, drink plenty of water, and book transfers and excursions early – this is the busiest time at Antalya Airport.

Autumn (September–November)

Many regulars consider autumn the best season: in September the sea is still almost as warm as in August (29°C) and around 23°C in November, while the days cool down from 32°C to 21°C. Rain returns gradually from late October (about 16 rainy days over the season, most of them in November). Ideal for a beach holiday without the summer heat.

Winter (December–February)

Winter is mild – about 15°C by day and 7°C at night – but it is also the rainy season, with around 32 rainy days over three months, usually as heavy showers between sunny spells. The sea (19°C) is too cool for most swimmers, but many hotels have heated indoor pools. Winter suits city breaks, spa holidays, long stays in Alanya and day trips to the snow at Saklıkent.

Is Antalya too hot in July and August?
Daytime highs average about 36°C and often exceed 35°C. It is very hot but dry; most visitors swim in the morning and evening and rest at midday.

Can you swim in Antalya in winter?
The sea drops to about 19–17°C in January–February, which is too cool for most people. Hotels with heated indoor pools are the usual choice in winter.
