About House of the Virgin Mary
The House of the Virgin Mary is a stone chapel on the slopes of Mount Koressos (Bülbüldağı), about 7 km from Selçuk, where Mary is believed to have spent her last years. It is visited by both Christian and Muslim pilgrims; Popes Paul VI (1967), John Paul II (1979) and Benedict XVI (2006) all came here. A Mass is held every year on 15 August, and visitors tie their wishes to the wishing wall outside the chapel.
