About Ancient City of Ephesus
Ephesus, right next to Selçuk, holds the ruins of one of the most important cities of the ancient world and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. The façade of the Library of Celsus (built around AD 125), the Great Theatre with an estimated 25,000 seats, the Temple of Hadrian and the Terrace Houses with their mosaics and frescoes are its landmarks. Visiting tips
The site is large with little shade: bring comfortable shoes, a hat and water, and go early in the morning in summer. The Terrace Houses need a separate ticket. Ephesus is easy to combine with the House of the Virgin Mary and Şirince on the same day.
