About Köprülü Canyon National Park

Köprülü Canyon National Park lies in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains in the Manavgat district of Antalya. Here the Köprüçay river (the ancient Eurymedon) has carved a canyon about 14 km long with walls up to around 100 metres high. The canyon takes its name from the Oluk Bridge, a single-arch Roman bridge built over the river in the 2nd century AD. Within the park are the theatre and walls of ancient Selge and a natural forest of Mediterranean cypress covering about 400 hectares. The Köprüçay is also one of Turkey's best-known rafting rivers. The park is about 109 km by road from Antalya Airport.

Highlights

  • Oluk Bridge, a 2nd-century Roman bridge
  • Canyon views along the Köprüçay river
  • Rafting on the river (local operators)
  • The theatre of ancient Selge
  • Natural Mediterranean cypress forest

Visiting tips

The canyon is 2–3 hours by road from Antalya and the coastal resorts, so an early start makes sense. The river water stays cold even in summer; if you expect to get wet, bring a change of clothes, a towel and non-slip shoes. On the way back you can add a stop at Aspendos.

How far is Köprülü Canyon National Park from my hotel?
By road approximately: Belek ~87 km (~135 min), Side ~90 km (~140 min), Antalya Airport ~109 km (~155 min), Lara ~119 km (~165 min), Konyaaltı ~124 km (~165 min), Alanya ~149 km (~180 min), Kemer ~162 km (~195 min). Times are estimates without traffic and can be longer at peak times in summer.

How much is the transfer, are tickets included?
The price depends on the vehicle class and is per vehicle, not per person; prices by area are in the table on this page, and the exact price for your hotel appears instantly in the booking form. Entrance tickets are not included.

How does the return work, does the driver wait?
The return is planned as a separate transfer: in a return booking you choose the return time and the vehicle comes to pick you up then, so you do not pay for waiting time.

Do you provide child seats?
Yes. Baby and child seats are free; just state the children's ages when booking.

Do you have to go rafting to enjoy the canyon?
No. You can see the Oluk Bridge, the riverside scenery and the ruins of Selge without rafting. Rafting is a separate activity run inside the park by local operators.

How old is the Oluk Bridge?
Its building technique and stonework point to construction in the 2nd century AD, in the Roman period. It has a single arch with a span of about 7 metres and still stands today.
