About Kaleiçi (Antalya Old Town)
Kaleiçi is the historic centre of Antalya, in the Muratpaşa district. A horseshoe-shaped double ring of walls encloses it, with traces from the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. Narrow lanes are lined with red-tiled houses. Key stops are the three-arched Hadrian's Gate, built in the name of Emperor Hadrian, who visited the city in 130 AD; the Yivli Minare with its fluted 13th-century Seljuk brick minaret; and the Kesik Minare, raised on a former Roman temple. The ancient harbour below is now a yacht marina. By road it is about 16 km (21 min) from the airport and 15 km (19 min) from Lara.

Visiting tips
Wear comfortable shoes: the lanes are narrow, cobbled and sloping, and the walk down to the harbour is steep. In summer, early morning or late afternoon is more comfortable than midday. Boat trips from the old harbour let you see the Lower Düden Waterfall where it drops into the sea.
