About Manavgat Waterfall

Manavgat Waterfall is on the Manavgat River, about 3 km from the centre of Manavgat. It is not tall – the water drops only about 5 metres – but it spreads across a wide rocky step, and the strong flow makes it loud and foaming. The 93 km river rises in the Western Taurus Mountains and runs to the Mediterranean. The falls were pictured on the back of Turkish 5 lira banknotes from 1968 to 1983. The site has walkways, viewing terraces, tea gardens and shops, and is about 12 km by road from Side.

Highlights

  • Wide, low falls across the river
  • Viewing terraces by the water
  • Shady tea gardens on the riverbank
  • Willow, plane and poplar trees
  • The scene from the old 5 lira note

Visiting tips

Spray keeps the rocks and platforms by the water wet, so wear shoes with grip and stay on the terraces. The ancient city of Side is close by, and the falls also combine well with Green Canyon, on the same river, or with Aspendos.

How does the return work, does the driver wait?
The return is planned as a separate transfer: in a return booking you choose the return time and the vehicle comes to pick you up then, so you do not pay for waiting time.

Do you provide child seats?
Yes. Baby and child seats are free; just state the children's ages when booking.

How high is Manavgat Waterfall?
The water drops only about 5 metres. What makes it impressive is not the height but the strong flow spread across the width of the river.
