About Kaputaş Beach

Kaputaş is a small cove directly below the coastal road between Kaş and Kalkan, where a narrow valley flanked by steep, wooded cliffs meets the sea. It lies about 7 km from Kalkan and around 20 km from Kaş. A staircase of roughly 170 steps leads down from the road, and the roadside above offers a bird's-eye view of the turquoise water and pale sand. Across the road is a short, narrow gorge carved by water over thousands of years, which ends after about 200 metres. The cove is also a regular stop for blue-cruise yachts. As one of the most photographed beaches on the Lycian coast, it is a natural stop on any day out between Kaş and Kalkan.

Highlights

  • Bird's-eye view of the turquoise cove from the road
  • The staircase of about 170 steps down to the sand
  • Fine-sand cove at the mouth of a steep valley
  • The short, narrow gorge across the road

Visiting tips

The steps are steep, so wear comfortable shoes and pack everything into one bag. In summer the cove gets busy around midday; arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon for a calmer visit. Take care by the roadside and photograph the view from a safe spot.
