About Xanthos
Xanthos stands on a hill beside the Eşen river (the ancient Xanthos) near the village of Kınık in the Kaş district. The ancient geographer Strabo called it the largest city in Lycia; its acropolis goes back to the 8th century BC, and the city passed through Lycian, Persian, Hellenistic and Roman rule. Xanthos is famous for its Lycian pillar tombs: the Harpy Tomb of around 480 BC, the Inscribed Pillar with its long Lycian text, and a Roman theatre are the main sights. The Nereid Monument and many original reliefs are now in the British Museum, with casts displayed on site. Together with the sanctuary of Letoon, about 4 km to the south, the site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988 as 'Xanthos-Letoon'.

How does the return work, does the driver wait?

Do you provide child seats?
Yes. Baby and child seats are free; just state the children's ages when booking.
Where are the famous sculptures from Xanthos today?
Many pieces, including the Nereid Monument and the original reliefs of the Harpy Tomb, were taken to London in the 19th century and are now displayed in the British Museum. Casts of the reliefs can be seen on site.
What is the Letoon and how is it linked to Xanthos?
The Letoon, about 4 km south of Xanthos, was the Lycian League's sanctuary, with temples dedicated to Leto and her children Apollo and Artemis. In 1973 a trilingual inscription in Lycian, Greek and Aramaic was found here, which greatly advanced the understanding of the Lycian language.
