About Saklıkent Gorge
Saklıkent Gorge lies near Kayadibi in the Seydikemer district of Muğla, right on the border with Antalya province, and has been protected within Saklıkent National Park since 1996. Its name means 'hidden city'. The gorge is about 18 km long, its limestone walls rise 200–300 metres in places, and at its narrowest it is only a few metres wide. It was carved by flowing water wearing away the rock over thousands of years. From the entrance, visitors follow wooden walkways fixed to the cliff face and then wade into the ice-cold water to enter the gorge. When the water level drops in the warmer months, several kilometres become walkable; going through the whole gorge requires professional canyoning equipment.
