About Cleopatra Beach

Cleopatra Beach stretches for about 2 km west of the Alanya castle peninsula, starting at Damlataş Cave and lying close to the town centre. With its fine golden sand and clear water it is Alanya's best-known beach, recognised with the Blue Flag, and in 2021 it was named among Europe's best beaches. Its name comes from a legend: the Roman general Mark Antony is said to have given Alanya to the Egyptian queen Cleopatra, who then bathed here. Sunbeds and umbrellas can be rented along the beach, there are food and drink kiosks, and water sports take place in designated zones outside the swimming area. From the sand you look up at the castle walls and the cable car line crossing above.

Highlights

  • About 2 km of fine golden sand
  • Clear, Blue Flag water
  • Views of the castle and the cable car
  • Water sports in designated zones
  • The shore of the Cleopatra legend

Visiting tips

The sand gets very hot at midday in summer, so bring beach sandals and sunscreen. The beach is quieter early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Damlataş Cave and the cable car station are at the castle end of the beach.

How far is Cleopatra Beach from my hotel?
By road approximately: Alanya ~2 km (~5 min), Konaklı ~11 km (~10 min), Mahmutlar ~14 km (~20 min), Avsallar ~22 km (~20 min), Okurcalar ~29 km (~25 min), Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport ~45 km (~50 min), Side ~64 km (~50 min). Times are estimates without traffic and can be longer at peak times in summer.

How much is the transfer, are tickets included?
The price depends on the vehicle class and is per vehicle, not per person; prices by area are in the table on this page, and the exact price for your hotel appears instantly in the booking form. Entrance tickets are not included.

How does the return work, does the driver wait?
The return is planned as a separate transfer: in a return booking you choose the return time and the vehicle comes to pick you up then, so you do not pay for waiting time.

Do you provide child seats?
Yes. Baby and child seats are free; just state the children's ages when booking.

Why is it called Cleopatra Beach?
According to legend, the Roman general Mark Antony gave Alanya to the Egyptian queen Cleopatra, who swam off this shore. It is a local story rather than a documented fact, but it gave the beach its name.

Can you do water sports at Cleopatra Beach?
Yes. Activities such as parasailing, jet skiing and pedal boats take place in zones set aside outside the swimming area for swimmers' safety.
