About Sapadere Canyon
Sapadere Canyon is a karst gorge in the Taurus Mountains inland from Alanya, at the village of Sapadere. Carved as water dissolved the limestone, it is about 600 metres long with walls rising up to 400 metres. A wooden walkway of roughly 600 metres, fixed to the rock with iron supports, leads into the canyon past the Sapadere stream, small waterfalls and cold natural pools. Where the stream leaves the gorge there is a waterfall with a pool. In 2022 the Alanya municipality opened an eco-tourism trail of about 3.4 km with viewing terraces, bridges and rest areas. Home to endemic plants and offering simple food stalls at the entrance, the canyon is a favourite summer escape from the coastal heat.
Highlights
- Wooden walkway along the rock walls
- Waterfalls and ice-cold natural pools
- Canyon walls up to 400 metres high
- Eco-tourism trail with viewing terraces
- A cool, green escape in the Taurus
Visiting tips
The road is mountainous and winding, and the canyon is noticeably cooler than the coast. The walkway and rocks can be wet, so wear non-slip shoes, and bring spare clothes if you want to dip into the pools. If you plan to hike the longer eco-trail, take water and start early in the day.

Sapadere Canyon transfer: FAQ
How far is Sapadere Canyon from my hotel?
By road approximately: Mahmutlar ~34 km (~50 min), Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport ~42 km (~55 min), Alanya ~46 km (~60 min), Konaklı ~57 km (~70 min), Avsallar ~69 km (~75 min), Okurcalar ~76 km (~80 min), Side ~110 km (~110 min). Times are estimates without traffic and can be longer at peak times in summer.
How much is the transfer, are tickets included?
The price depends on the vehicle class and is per vehicle, not per person; prices by area are in the table on this page, and the exact price for your hotel appears instantly in the booking form. Entrance tickets are not included.
How does the return work, does the driver wait?
The return is planned as a separate transfer: in a return booking you choose the return time and the vehicle comes to pick you up then, so you do not pay for waiting time.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes. Baby and child seats are free; just state the children's ages when booking.
Can you swim in Sapadere Canyon?
In summer people cool off in the pool at the canyon exit and in the natural pools. The water is spring-fed and very cold, so take care and only go in where it is permitted.
Is the Sapadere Canyon walk difficult?
The roughly 600-metre wooden walkway inside the canyon is easy for most visitors. The eco-tourism trail opened in 2022 is longer, at about 3.4 km, and takes around 3 hours to complete.
