About Termessos
Termessos is a Pisidian city built at about 1,000 metres on the slopes of Güllük Dağı (ancient Mount Solymos) in the Korkuteli district. The ruins lie among pine and maquis within Güllük Dağı–Termessos National Park, declared in 1970. According to the ancient historian Arrian, Alexander the Great besieged the city in 333 BC but withdrew without taking it because of its natural defences. Visitors can see the theatre, odeon, gymnasium, agora, cisterns and an extensive necropolis. It offers a mountain setting quite different from the coastal sites. It is about 35 km by road from Konyaaltı (roughly 44 minutes).
Highlights
- Hillside theatre and its mountain views
- Well-preserved walls of the odeon
- Necropolis with rock tombs and sarcophagi
- Large cisterns around the agora
- Remains of the gymnasium
- Pine forest of the national park
Visiting tips
The ruins are spread over a steep slope with stony, uneven paths, so wear sturdy closed shoes. In summer go early in the day and bring water and a hat. Being close to Antalya city, it pairs well with Kaleiçi on the same day.

Termessos transfer: FAQ
How far is Termessos from my hotel?
By road approximately: Konyaaltı ~35 km (~45 min), Antalya Airport ~46 km (~60 min), Lara ~49 km (~60 min), Kemer ~69 km (~75 min), Belek ~73 km (~80 min), Side ~106 km (~105 min), Alanya ~166 km (~145 min). Times are estimates without traffic and can be longer at peak times in summer.
How much is the transfer, are tickets included?
The price depends on the vehicle class and is per vehicle, not per person; prices by area are in the table on this page, and the exact price for your hotel appears instantly in the booking form. Entrance tickets are not included.
How does the return work, does the driver wait?
The return is planned as a separate transfer: in a return booking you choose the return time and the vehicle comes to pick you up then, so you do not pay for waiting time.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes. Baby and child seats are free; just state the children's ages when booking.
Why did Alexander the Great fail to take Termessos?
According to Arrian, the city's mountain position gave it such strong natural defences that even a small force could hold it. Alexander abandoned the siege in 333 BC and marched north to Sagalassos.
Is visiting Termessos physically demanding?
The city sits on a steep mountainside at about 1,000 metres, so moving between the monuments means walking on stony, sloping paths. Moderate fitness and sturdy shoes are enough.
