It suits families wanting a quiet hotel holiday away from the bustle of Alanya, with the Seljuk-era Alara Han and Alara Castle nearby.

The route

From Antalya Airport the D400 coastal road heads east via Aksu, Serik and Manavgat; after the Kızılağaç and Kızılot hotel strip it reaches Okurcalar.

Arrival & departure tip

Coming from Antalya, Okurcalar is the first resort of the Alanya region, so the drive ends before entering Alanya town. Traffic can build up through Manavgat in summer.

Things to see around Okurcalar

The best-known historical site nearby is Alara Han, a 13th-century Seljuk caravanserai on the old trade route along the coast, with the ruins of Alara Castle on the rocky hill above it. Further afield, the Manavgat waterfall and the ancient city of Side lie to the west, while Alanya's castle, harbour and Cleopatra Beach are to the east.

Okurcalar compared with Alanya town

Okurcalar is a hotel resort rather than a town: most guests spend their days at the hotel and on its beach, and nightlife is limited. The neighbouring resorts of Avsallar and İncekum have more shops and restaurants. Local minibuses (dolmuş) run along the coastal road towards Alanya and Manavgat, so the larger centres are easy to reach without a car.

The swimming season runs roughly from May to October; July and August are the hottest and busiest months, while late spring and early autumn are calmer and more pleasant for excursions.
